REMEMBER ME?
By Rick Mathes
1 Corinthians 11:24 (NASB77) 24 and when He had given thanks, He broke it, and said, “This is My body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of Me.”
Oh how sad that our Lord would have to remind us to remember Him. How could anyone forget the life of the greatest man to have ever walked the very earth He created? It hurts just to imagine the pitiful sound of His voice when He said, “Remember me.”
The heavens exploded with ecstatic angels and heavenly beings when He stepped down from the throne and made Himself the very flesh He created so that we might know God up close. He was so perfect that at His baptism the Trinity conversed and it was heart that God loved His Son and was well pleased. His cousin John was the last prophet and only one to introduce the Savior of the world to all. Who would accept it?
Remember the barren and hot desert He spent forty days without food? Even in that emancipated condition He could take on the devil and win all three rounds by way of knockout. It is written, it is written, it is written was He left jab, right hook and uppercut! Winner and still Champion!
The persecution began at His birth and ended at the empty tomb. He was the anvil that was and continues to be the cause of many broken hammers. Nothing, not even Satan could stop Jesus from becoming the Lamb of God that takes away the sins of the world. He took the blows and it wasn’t the nails that held Him to the cross, it was He who held the nails while the timbers wept and the sun’s light went out. The Father turned His back on His Son and the Trinity was torn from top to bottom! Who could possibly forget this sacrifice?
The tomb couldn’t hold Him back and He burst forth in light and His life was returned just as He had said it would. What kind of God is He and how could you not remember Him when you recall from whence you came because of His resurrection power?
He ascended into heaven and I promise you those 500 witnesses would die insisting He really did. They saw His feet leave the ground and His body disappear into a cloud. The witnesses agree. Will He return? Oh yes indeed He will. Just keep Him in mind and when He returns He will remember you!
