BY THE CROSS

BY THE CROSS

By Rick Mathes

Colossians 1:15 (NASB77) 15  And He is the image of the invisible God, the first-born of all creation.

When I was a teenager run away I was always getting into fights and quite frankly losing most of them. Anyone who wanted to beat me up did. That’s why now I so thoroughly enjoy knocking Satan and/or his demons right on their butts. When I am hit with a big temptation I remember I love the Lord more than I love the sin and I whip it When I do I feel like King Kong. I put down the bottle and picked up the Bible. I put down the drugs and lifted up my cross. I threw donw my evil ways and lifted my holy hands to the King. I am redeemed!

The Cross put the fear of God into evil influences. The demons know that Jesus is Lord and they tremble and cringe in terror. The cross fends off the flaming arrows from the abyss and quenched the exploding darts that wee meant for me. Satan cannot make yuou sin and all you have to do is look to His Cross!

All the evil power of hell is nothing but an annoying itch on God’s butt. Satan is a fish-faced, thumb-sucking, bed-wetting gay punk in the Name of Jesus. I know that if you kill Goliath (your main sin) the Philistines (smaller sins) will scatter. God is still God and David’s faith can be yours because the real spirutal power belongs to God. The devil, his fallen angels and the lake of fire are all creations of Jesus and isn’t the Creator much greater than the created? Get some spirutal “T” will you?

The severest afflictions will have no power over you if you know that the Lord is testing your faith. Know that “it came to pass.” Just hold on , take the tsunami of grief and pain and the peace that follows will be worth it; like having a baby in your arms after the pain of delivery.

Lastly as you look around you can’t help but notice that worldly allurements are in sight in every direction. We are almost swallowed ina sea of sinful allurements of sex, drugs, rock-n-roll violence and every other perversion ever invented in the lowest levels of hell. All the satanic power in the world like a laser on you cannot make you sin. Think about this. Only you an walk to the Cross, give Jesus the finger and sin. Only you alone can do this or not. Make your choice.

HE IS GOD

HE IS GOD

By Rick Mathes

Matthew 16:15 He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?”

Jesus is God and we will soon seen Him return in glory and power to rule our earth as a loving shepherd would his precious sheep. He rose bodily into glory and whether he’s in the third heaven or not, when He returns we will see Him as He really is and we will be transformed into new beings. Now is the time to prepare for this spectacular event of His return. So what can we do to be more pleasing to Him?

Is there an example to follow? There isn’t any human example to follow because we all fall short because we are totally depraved. Being Christian is Christ-like only. All of hell has it’s weight on our eyes to look outward instead of upward. When we strive to have our God in the image and likeness of man, we fall way short of how he fashioned us to be like Him.

Is there any command to obey? God so loved the world that He didn’t send a committee. He sent His only Son Jesus. When our Lord commands, all He wants to hear from us is, “Yes Sir!” There’s no arm-wrestling over issues. He is the only Commander in Chief of this world.

Is there any error to avoid? I challenge you to pray as follows: Father God, by your grace I have been saved. Brother Jesus, by your stripes I have been saved. Holy Spirit, you know the mind of the Father and the heart of the Son, ‘What would you have me do?’ I guarantee you, He will answer you and you probably won’t like the answer you hear from Him.

Is there any sin I should repent of? Everyone has one sin that rises above the rest that the Holy Spirit hs convicted you of. It’s the big one you don’t want to repent of. I call that sin, Goliath. Well, when you kill Goliath the Philistines run. The smaller sins are easier to let go of when you have been victorious over the “big one.”

Is there any of His work for me to do? You, with your won best effort will at best only rise to your level of incompetence. When you finally confess, “I can’t” He can be heard saying, “I can!” Reach beyond your grasp. That is where you end and He begins.

Who is He? I would rather ask, “Who is He to you?” God is the same today as He was when He spoke the universe into existence and when He became incarnate man. Pledge allegiance to the King and diligently prepare for His return.

I can hear the hoof-beats. The trumpet is about to sound. Are you ready to go home?

BOTTOM LINE

BOTTOM LINE

By Rick Mathes

When you distill the gospel to its most condensed state ti will be composed entirely of faith. Faith is entirely dependent upon the power of God and His allotment to us. Faith is not a power, it is a presence. We appropriate the Holy Spirit within us when we unleash the full import of faith within us like a laser beam that convicts us of sin, cleanses us of all unrighteousness, transforms our life to conform to His, comforts our aching heart and strengthens our resolve to keep the faith and press on!

We appropriate the promise of salvation. This frees us from the bondage of sin and fear of the superstitions the evil one conjures up to destroy our resolve to conquer this worldly kingdom for our Lord and Commander-in-Chief, Jesus Christ.

Once we strep out of the boat of carnality we escape the punishment, power and presence of sin: the past, present and future. This begs a few questions tht you need to put on the table to establish your bottom line.

  • Have you been justified?
  • Have you been sanctified?
  • Do you have faith or fear?
  • Are you out of the boat and walking by faith? As a nation we need regeneration, reformation, revival and then revolution!Let me laser in once again on your own personal bottom line:
  1. You need to be assured that you have been born-again. Have you really experienced a complete regeneration or are you just the old you in a new fabricated package?
  2. Have you rehabilitated your old bad habits to bless our Lord with good habits of praise, study and prayer?
  3. Are you ashamed of the gospel or are you out front in the face of Satan making disciples for the Lord?
  4. And are you prepared to the best of your ability to be included in the rapture that final day?You can’t avoid the bottom line: the gospel truth in your heart and soul. If you doubt that you are saved, you aren’t! So wake up, take a personal inventory because tonight might be the night the grim reaper visits you and then it will be too late!
